NPFL 2020/21: Rangers Grabs Maximum Points Against Table Topper


Rangers International continued their good form at home after seeing off-table toppers, Kwara United in their week 11 NPFL clash at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.

Kwara United headed into the tie unbeaten in 8 matches but a Chiamaka Madu tap in broke the wings of the Harmony Boys in the first half.

Israel Abia and Christian Nnaji combined severally to extend the lead of the Flying Antelopes but could not take any of the chances created.

Despite dominating proceedings in the second half, Kwara United were unable to break the defence of the Rangers.

Steven Jude had a glorious chance to level up after he gathered the ball well beating his marker but his audacious striker despite beating Femi Thomas did not beat the crossbar.

While the visitors piled up pressure for an equaliser, Christian Nnaji kept troubling their defence on the counter attack.

The young striker’s energy was unmatched but could beat Dele Aiyenugba even when he went past the defenders.

Kwara United will have chances upon chances of their own in the latter stages of the game but remained not clinical in the final third.

Rangers’ resolute defending helped them to hang on to a slim lead.

At the blast of the final whistle, it ended Rangers 1-0 Kwara United at the Cathedral.
