Heartland Snatch a Point in Akure, Leaves Sunshine Stars winless in Four


Sunshine Stars and Heartland FC played out a 1 – 1 draw in their week 21 League clash clash in Akure on Sunday.

While Heartland came to the game on the back of impressive back to back wins, Sunshine were searching for their first win in three outings.

But, it was Heartland who drew first blood through Pascal Eze in the 18th minute of the encounter.

The Naze Millionaires went into the break with their noses in front, but decided to sit back and protect their lead in the second half.

Sunshine Stars leveled the scores in the 71st minutes from the penalty and it was talisman Sadeeq Yusuf who got the goal.

It was his 8th league goal of the ongoing season from 10 matches.

Yusuf now leads the pack as per the league’s top scorers chart closely followed by Akwa United’s forward Ndifreke Effiong.

The Owena Waves failed to find the winner, despite piling pressure on the visitors late on.

The result meant Sunshine Stars have lost further grounds on the top three teams after losing to Kwara United last Sunday.
